I have been researching the O'Neals of North Carolina. I am at a block now and can't seem to get pass it. I am a descendant of John O'Neal from Hatteras. He was born in 1670 and different researchers have his father as David O'Neal, mother Morning Dew. They show both of them born in England and died in NC. Buried in Kennakeet Nc. David was listed as being born 1570 and I believe common sense should dictate here, he would have been a 100 years old when John was born. There is a lost generation here or dates are wrong. Have you came upon any information about a David.

A researcher has posted that he was a cook on board the John Evangalist which was a Pennical ship Capt. William Lane. It was one of three returning to Roanoke in 1590, but there is no scource records to verify this.
